In high school, Abigail Dunkin competed intrack and field, winning events in the 100m, 400m and shot put. She discovered wheelchair basketball watching the 2012 Paralympic Games in London on YouTube, immediately realizing she wanted to get involved in the sport.
Abby would train with military veterans through the San Antonio ParaSport Spurs and was recruited by the University of Texas at Arlington to play for their women’s wheelchair basketball team, helping them win their first national title in 2016. Abby was also a member of Team USA’s women’s wheelchair basketball team that won a Gold medal in Rio.
