Challenge Extended Presents: Retired Army Sergeant Christy Gardner
Retired Army Sergeant Christy Gardner was injured as a result of a Line of Duty Incident as an MP during an Asia peacekeeping mission, eventually resulting in the amputation of both legs. Always a multi-sport athlete, she has continued her pursuit of being an elite athlete to this day. Christy is a member of the U.S. Women’s National Sled Hockey Team, serving as an assistant captain the past few years. But she is also focusing her attention on competing at the Tokyo Paralympics, particularly in shot put and discus. And if that wasn’t enough, she was recently added to the roster of the United States Para Surfing Team. She also talks about a new children’s book that is out, titled “Lucky” that she is involved with.
